Online evangelism is never meant to replace personal evangelism, however, it is an opportunity for members to begin conversations or to give them another occasion to share the gospel. This can be accomplished by your members, sharing an online gospel video. The gospel video is meant to be used as an online gospel tract, by your members. They can share this resource with their friends and let them know they are thinking of them and that they care about them. This presentation can be used as another outreach arm of your church for years to come.

What is involved in this online gospel presentation?
I. Create an online gospel video presentation
A. Make it 10-15 minutes long
- The pastor should do this video as he is the pastor to his community.
- You could use a friend that you know gives an excellent gospel presentation.
- You do not need to overproduce this video. It should have a casual, personal feel.
- This presentation can be used even after the virus.
- You can also create a special Christmas or Easter video throughout the year.
B. End the video with
- Leading in an invitation prayer
- Tell them of resources you have if they want more info, tell them they can get in touch via email, call, Facebook page…
- Tell them to ask the person who invited, if they have questions.
- Ask them to fill out the form below (on your landing page) to receive more information on how to have a personal relationship with Christ.
- Tell them, if they fill in their address, that you would like to leave a gift and more information on their front doorknob.
II. Create a landing page
A. What is a landing page?
- Landing pages or sometimes call “Splash Pages’ are standalone pages that are used to attract someone to a webpage for a specific purpose. For example, you could have a Teen Camp landing page where the teens could register for camp. You could have a Christmas Cantata Landing page where guests could register to come to the cantata.
B. Create the landing page
- Create a splash page for the gospel presentation. A landing page needs a URL just like your church website. The best practice is to purchase a new URL, which only costs about $13 per year. Create a blankbaptistchurchcaresaboutyou.com URL. This URL will be very easy for your church members to remember. Of course, use your church name instead of blank.
- Or you could create a page on your site that members can share as a link.
- Sample Mailchimp landing page.
C. Free Mailchimp landing pages
- Mailchimp offers a free account that your church can create a free landing page. They will also give you a free URL that your members can share. The problem is, is that it is very long and harder to use.
- The great thing about this page is that every time someone fills out the form, Mailchimp adds their information to a database. You then will have a separate database of just those who have watched your gospel video and have responded. From this database, you can send out emails or mailings. This list could also be used, down the road, to send information about special events.

D. Offer more information and gospel material
- On your splash page, have a form to fill out if people who watch have any questions. Let them know you will send them something to help them understand more about the gospel. You can send a PDF version of Done, by Cary Schmidt, that you could email. Or you can buy copies of the book and drop it off at their door with a tract and other things from the church. Also, some popcorn, candy, and coffee so the family could have a family night.
- Also, your church could offer a bible study on salvation. A good four-week study that can be done via FaceTime or zoom is Salvation Bible Basics. Brother Hammett is a solid Baptist missionary to Africa. Here is a link to the material to use. The cost is only $7.99, and you can make all the copies you need.
III. Email your members
A. And ask them to
- Watch your online gospel video.
- Pray about who, in the community, they have a burden to share the gospel video. (Of course, if they have loved ones they care about, they can share it, but the focus should be on your community)
- Share with 2-3 individuals each week, a link to your video. They can send it by email, text, or social media.
B. Instruct your members in what to do
- Let them know what to say when they send the link.
- Example text could be – “I was thinking about you during this strange time we are living in today. The following link is something I believe could help you at this time. Would you take a few minutes to watch this video?
- A few days later, have the members send a follow-up message asking them if they had any problem getting the video to work. This wording is less aggressive than asking if they watched it.
- Have the members send you a note of who they have sent the link to so that you can pray for them.
